ZIP Code Business Patterns is an annual source of establishment and employment data for the United States. The factor that has been used in the creation of this estimate is the number of employees working in medical facilities and hospitals. Included in this are:

• Offices of Physicians (NAICS 6211)

• Offices of Dentists (NAICS 6212)

• Offices of Other Health Practitioners (NAICS 6213)

• Outpatient Care Centers (NAICS 6214)

• Medical and Diagnostic Laboratories (NAICS 6215)

• Home Health Care Services (NAICS 6216)

• Other Ambulatory Health Care Services (NAICS 6219)

• General Medical and Surgical Hospitals (NAICS 6221)

• Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Hospitals (NAICS 6222)

• Other Specialty Hospitals (NAICS 6223)

• Nursing Care Facilities (NAICS 6231)

• Residential Mental Retardation Health Facilities (NAICS 6232)

• Community Care Facilities for the Elderly (NAICS 6233)

• Other Residential Care Facilities (NAICS 6239)

Medical is not a variable that is measurable for a particular neighborhood. It is more closely associated with a larger area. EASI has summarized the above variables to counties for this analysis.
