Given the major changes taking place in the demographic make-up of the United States, school leaders need to be much savvier about the potential school market in their local, state, and regional areas. As a way to help them stay abreast of these changes, NAIS has partnered with Easy Analytic Software, Inc. (EASI) to establish an online service to provide members with demographic data.
EASI is a New York based independent developer and marketer of demographic data, demographic software, and a re-seller of desktop mapping. EASI has decades of experience working with the most complex systems. Its analysts and programmers have an average of over 25 years working with demographics and software. It also prides itself on having the most accurate data, combined with highly intuitive software, and the best service in the industry. The NAIS Demographic Center offers two types of reports. The Basic Reports for Independent Schools include variables that have been especially selected for their relevance in the decision-making process for independent school administrators, whereas the Additional Reports for Advanced Use contain demographic variables in general that can provide a more sophisticated analysis of the demographic changes in the American landscape.
Through the Basic Reports for Independent Schools, you can get information for the geographic area of your choice (your ZIP code, your metropolitan area, your state, etc.) on the number of households that have children age 0 to 17 years, school-age population broken down by gender, number of households broken down by income level, and the race/ethnicity composition of the population in your area, among others. By running these reports, you can assess how these variables have changed over time and will continue to change, and compare them with the demographics of your own school. By knowing these data, you can make strategic decisions that will ensure that your school survives and thrives in an ever-changing marketplace.
The Additional Reports for Advanced Use include other demographic variables drawn from the Census. These reports include specific data for population, employment, business establishments, households, income, and consumer expenditures, among others. These reports can help users to better understand the general demographic characteristics of their communities and determine trends in a specific geographic area that can be used as a benchmarking point.
