Local Area Reports

To help members understand the implications of demographic trends in specific metropolitan regions, NAIS has created the Local Area Reports. These reports highlight trends in key demographic variables such as school-age population, school enrollment, families with children listed by income level, population by race and ethnic group, and education level. The Local Area Reports also include strategic questions school administrators should consider based on the demographic trends of their regions, as well as a list of NAIS resources to help users deal with these trends and additional information to analyze the data.

To create these reports, members can now use the Local Area Reports tool under the Basic Reports for Independent Schools using state, county, Core-Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs), and cities as geographic areas. CBSAs are new census geographic areas that combine both Metropolitan Areas (formerly MSAs) and new Micropolitan Areas.

*** The former Metropolitan Area Reports created between 2007 and 2009 were created using the Detailed Reports of the Basic Reports for Independent Schools using only Core-Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs) as geographic areas.
