The User Profile Report is a Summary Report generated by the User Profiles & Analysis feature.
In addition to the usual features found in a Summary Report, it has an additional column of data called Intensity or Rank Value depending on whether the user chose to Analyze Profile or Rank Profile.
Intensity represents how closely each area's profile matches a perfect score for the chosen profile. The highest possible intensity score is 100, which would mean that the EASI Rank for every factor in the user profile is 1 for a given area. As more variables are added to the User Profile, the likelihood of this outcome diminishes. A high intensity score represents a high concentration of a variable within an area but does not necessarily imply a high quantity.
Rank Value represents amount of a variable (or variables) that an area has regardless of the concentration of that variable. If the user profile consists of Asian Households, the Rank Value is the number of Asian Households for each area. If the user profile consists of Asian Households and Black Households, the Rank Value is the sum of the Asian Households + Black Households. If, in this example, Black Households was given a weight of 2 and Asian Households a weight of 1, the Rank Value would be the sum of the Asian Households + 2 times the number of Black Households.
The difference between Intensity and Rank Value can be seen as follows: in 2003 Counties, Jefferson, MS has the 1st highest concentration of Black Population with an Intensity of 100.0, but only the 573rd most Black Population of all counties with a Rank Value of 8,517.
